Shailen Singh

Shailen Sigh is a recognized Leader, Community Activist, Certified Executive Coach, Mediator, and Public Speaker with a stellar reputation in executive education. Currently serving as a lecturer for Executive Coaching at the Daniels Institute, Shailen utilizes his vast skills set to foster the development of future leaders. In addition to his academic duties, Shailen is the proud Founder and Chairman of the Jems Foundation, a platform through which he passionately advocates for community development and youth empowerment. Under his leadership, the foundation thrives as an incubator for the next generation of leaders, demonstrating his dedication to creating a more equitable future.

 

Shailen's academic credentials are equally impressive. He graduated Cum Laude with a BA Honours from the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) in 1999, showing his early penchant for academic excellence. In 2016, he earned a Master's Degree from UKZN. His thesis, focused on the amendment to the Sexual Offences Act of 2007, displayed his commitment to addressing critical societal issues through legislative impacts.

 

As a certified executive coach at Daniels Institute, Shailen uses his theoretical knowledge and practical experience to guide executives on their leadership journey. He employs a holistic approach to coaching, grounded in his understanding of community, equity, and empowerment, which sets him apart in the field. Jems Foundation

Founder, Chairmen

Jems Foundation (NPO: 169.591) located in the Durban South Basin of KwaZulu-Natal, was founded in 2011. The organization originally started of providing free counselling to the local community and school’s. Since our introduction of these programmes, we’re actively reaching 7 high schools, providing free counselling and support programmes to learners. Jems Foundation has since introduced a multiple programmes in skills development, youth development, early childhood development, community development and substance abuse support. We’ve hosted a number of programmes and conducted programmes reaching thousands of learners. We have a fully fledged early childhood development centre (ECD) run by a qualified ECD teacher, providing quality education, nutrition and holisitc development to children from the nearby informal settlements. As the founder and chairmen of the organization, I set the strategy, implement the programmes and manage the team of volunteers that executes our various projects. I also conduct the bulk of counselling sessions.

​I was the National Facilitator responsible for training thousands of teachers & educators all over South Africa on the No Apologies Programme which was implemented for the Department of Education.

 

I have also trained the BOCAIP Programme in Botswana.
